Meat Horses Feb 23 2013

Today at the Woodville auction there were no horses, just 2 donkeys that went to good homes.  At the Lindsay auction several horses were purchased by the dealer that does not send all of the horses that he gets for meat.  From the prices that he paid for most them I suspect that he has other homes in mind.  The majority of the horses were ridden, a lovely black registered Percheron mare, a  well trained paint mare, chestnut qh cross gelding - very well broke, Haflinger gelding rides & drives, Welsh cross bay gelding and a 4 yr old Standardbred mare did not make it to the track (too slow) and trained to ride - seemed quite nervous and skittish.  .   I did not get pictures of them, they don't like me taking pics at that auction, sorry....
The horse that we saved today is Cider, a lovely 9 yr old Palamino mare, approx 15 hands, friendly &  trained to ride, last ridden Fall 2012.  She was brought to the auction through the Innkeepers Act.  She will be available for adoption.
