Its Her 3rd Birthday- Heres Emma's Story

Baby Emma & I

Birthday Girl!!  April 25, 2012

Happy Birthday Baby!!  Georgia was 8 months pregnant when we outbid the meat buyer for her.  All they said about her was "she is  mare and has been bred by a morgan stud".  Howies father was #1 supporter of our  rescue efforts.  He grew up in the age that relied on horses for almost everything and appreciated what were were trying to do.  He passed away almost 2 wks before we saved her.  She needed a name,  Fathers name was Harold George Emmanuel Welch.  We couldn't name her Harold, but Georgia really suited her.  We discovered that George Is a Rocky Mountain Horse, and she is broke to ride.  (She has been adopted, her new "mom" loves her very much!)  When baby was born April 25, 2009, in thinking about a name we went with Fathers name once again, couldn't name her Harold, but Emmanuel could be modified....  Emma has been handled since birth, lead, picks up her feet nice.  I have layed over her back with no reaction.  We have worked with Emma from day one and is scheduled for training - our big girl now!!  Emma is not available for adoption but we do have several lovely horses that are-check out our adoptable horses tab.  Each adoption funds the next rescue and with the situation at Ontario racetracks we are preparing to have to save as many as possible.  We are already hearing about trailerloads of thoroughbreds and standardbreds going into meat auctions or directly to the meat buyers.  Most of these are horses that could very easily have a second career.  We are willing to help out in any way possible, and to all of the other horse lovers out there-think-is there anything you can do?!!
