Yay! There were no horses at both of the auctions that I attend. This does not happen often, this means that none went for meat (from those auctions, am sure they still got lots, the main meat guy gets approx 2/3's of the horses from the OLEX auction near Kitchener). There is another meat buyer that has started around here, he buys at auctions or privately, he recently got 6 qh, one has a bumm leg but the others are supposed to be trained to ride. He is willing to let us come and try out the horses in his yard, so this is good. Any meat horses that we could work with we could negotiate with him. He figures that "with the US opening up horse slaughter that there will be more demand for Canadas horses for kill.........." Anyone looking for horses keep us in mind, let me know what you are looking for, I may be able to help you save it!
