Sweet little mini mule that needs a special home and human to love her. She makes the perfect pasture puff
 I've had her for the past year and built trust and gotten to the point I can get some cooperation with food and patience. I am sadly forced to part with her as she must be in a home with no small children or other small critters.
Vet guessed her to be in her 2nd year.
She is full of spunk and personality and loves to play. She constantly seeks to engage with humans, although its on her terms and her terms only.
This means not forcing her with ropes or confined areas. It makes her nervous, flighty and unpredictable.
I do not know her past but she was neglected & mistreated somehow at some point and it comes back to haunt her at times.

Feb 4 2019 Bailey QH mare

Update April 2019: Bailey has found a great new home. Thanks to everyone who shared her info!

Bailey is a palomino quarter horse mare with a blaze and a hind right sock. In the past, Bailey was ridden English and used in beginner rider lessons and as a trail horse. In 2016, Bailey had an accident and is no longer able to be ridden. Throughout the recovery process, Bailey has been still used for leading, grooming and ground activities with young children. Bailey is great with kids and loves to be groomed and spent time with. Bailey is currently on daytime turnout and in a stall at night. Looking for a forever home where she can just be a companion for another horse.

She is in her mid twenties. She also had some injury to her eye but still sees fine out of it. Currently on senior feed 3 times a day. Has some difficulty lifting her back left leg (can lift it just not very high for farrier etc.)

Jet, Morgan gelding, is a gentle horse and about 16 years old, it has been about 5 yrs since he has been ridden. He can be hard to catch at times but is very easy to handle when you have him attached to a lead rope. He has had some health issues in the past (founder), but does well on hay with meds and kept away from lush green grass. Adorable sweet welsh pony gelding, approx 13.2 hands. Pal is 16 yrs old, just about the friendliest guy you will ever meet! He has been missing his right eye since he was a yearling and is very comfortable with it. He has shown no signs of being easily spooked, even when exposed to the variety of critters we have, and our nimrod dog. He has been ridden bareback with reins attached to his halter, and with english tack. Update: Pal now has a new loving family Yay buddy!

New Arrival Aug 2018 Kesons Myst

New Arrival, Myst, 20 yrs Standardbred mare, registered name Kesons Myst. Very sweet, approx 15.2 hands, trained to drive and ride. Well behaved, was being ridden bareback by a twelve yr old most of the summer. Myst is available for adoption, her bridle and western saddle can be included. Negotiable adoption fee! New arrival Edi 18 yr old gelding

Edi ( Eddie) is a very sweet, friendly, 17 hand, 18 yr old Trakehner thoroughbred cross gelding. Edi has show jumped most of his life, it was starting to make him ouchie. He has been successfully trail ridden many times wearing a western saddle. Light riding only, no jumping. Edi is available he is free to loving home at this time. Update: Edi has been adopted Yay!

Needs new loving home asap, family health issues forced owner to part with her. This is the info given to me:  Bea is a 6 yo chestnut tb/clyde cross mare, about 16hh. She has been diagnosed with caudal heel pain but it's likely navicular (xrays available). She was sound for light riding last summer with shoes and pour in pads, but went off when her work was increased to five days a week. She is pasture and walking sound without shoes and could do some light trotting with corrective shoeing. 

She's incredibly sweet and curious, loves to be groomed and loved on. She likes kids, scritchies, apples, and hanging out with people. I'm just looking for a good, safe home for her. Located near Guelph.

June 12 2018 Megans Mayflower 17 yr old mare

Megans Mayflower, barn name Mookie, sweet grey  mare needs new home asap. Located near Holland Landing. Owner passed away suddenly, her friend is trying to help rehome. She has been ridden unfortunately I do not know the last time.  She is a grey with the common melanoma that greys get.  She would be an ideal companion horse.  She was due to be bred this spring, however her owner passed the week before she was due to be bred with frozen sperm.

10 Years!

May 17, 2008 we purchased a horse

from the meat dealer. 10 years and 195 horses later, I need to take this opportunity to thank my husband Howie, family and friends, for assisting and encouragement, Manuela Stefan, professional equine photographer, who showcases horses instinctively,  the families who have adopted, loved and cared for our precious rescues, and to the people who have shared info which does help more horses find homes. Another huge Thanks to The Olde Stone Brewery, Peterborough (in addition to purchasing veggies, chicken, pork, beef and lamb, we grew pumpkins for their seasonal brew - that was so cool - growing for them again this year - Yay!) and to all of the many  people who have purchased our beautiful organically and sustainably grown produce, eggs, pasture raised chicken, turkey, beef, pork, lamb, goat, and duck. Producing beautiful food for people is one of our passions and it keeps us in the tax bracket that allows us to devote the $, space and feed required to continue to run the horse rescue.
 Available now: free range chicken, goat & pork, chicken and duck eggs, orders being taken for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys. Limited quantities, our farm is not a factory!

New Arrival May 11 2018 Creative Lady

Gorgeous, well behaved 15 yr old thoroughbred mare. Nice disposition, easy to handle, did not spook at the sights and sounds of the menagerie of critters here! Did well racing, then retired to being a broodmare. Does have a prior injury to back right but is sound. Has not been ridden since racing but would be easy to restart and be a lovely pleasure mount. Update: Lady has been adopted by a wonderful family Yay!

New arrival Hank 11 yr old tb

Handsome and sweet, Hank is an 11 yr old thoroughbred gelding, approx 16 hands tall. Hank has been ridden both english and western and was by beginners last summer. He needs to gain several lbs and his feet are pretty poor but the new growth looks healthy. He is currently being assessed for suitability.

Here is Baby, 15 year old paint horse Born in 2003 to a mare that was bred too early leaving her with a birth defect that doesn’t allow her to be ridden. Her owner for the past 15 years has passed away recently. He took her in because he didn’t want to see her be put down. He gave her great care and he wanted her to continue to have a great life, possibly among a herd. She is very docile and is around young kids. She is full of life! 

New Arrival Nov 5 2017 Standardbred gelding

This fella has a bit of a story, I first met him at the Woodville auction in May, he was in the pen with the big grey tb gelding (Fill Up)that arrived here May 14. He was purchased by a man with a big heart but no knowledge of horses and what they require. We gave the owner several "lessons" on the basics. He named the gelding Hors, he needs a new name for sure! Unable to keep him any longer he contacted me, english being his second language I misunderstood him and he brought Hors to auction. He is a lovely horse, very level headed and sweet, approx 8yrs old. His young son and wife were riding him.

Monday October 9 2017 Harvest Feast grown on our farm!

I really enjoy watching cooking shows, and have  imagined many times about what I would put in a mystery basket of ingredients from our farm.  This is a bit similar to what it feels like for me, an exciting feeling of anticipation for the chefs masterpiece! The ingredients coming from our farm, all organically grown, planted, tended to and harvested by hand, include;  coloured potatoes and carrots, sweet potatoes, swiss chard, beets, mixed greens, pumpkins for their pumpkin beer and the turkeys, which were not planted, they are free range. Lol
This is the menu for the harvest feast!
Thanksgiving dinner Mon Oct 9, 6pm. $50 per person, kids $25 Beer pairings with each course. Salad of greens with peach, tomatoes,  sunflower and pumpkin seeds, cucumber, shredded beet with a chocolate mint porter vinaigrette. Main is smoked turkey with mashed sweet potatoes, roast garlic potatoes,  ale braised carrots, ale steamed chard, candied beet, cranberry and currant stuffing and turkey gravey.  Vegetarian option; ale roasted squash stuffed with cranberry and currant with mushroom gravy and the same sides as the turkey. Dessert; stout beer tiramisu with pumpkin ale ice cream.

July 29 2017 New arrival Molly

Just arrived, Molly is a 19yr old Clydesdale mare. She is a bit thin but thats going to change here! Molly is trained to drive and has been ridden, but it has been awhile! Her Adoption fee is negotiable.

New Arrivals QH filly & Hackney mare

Arrived yesterday, neither of them had names. The QH yearling filly is barely halter trained and doesn't know alot but is friendly and seems eager to please.  The Hackney pony mare is lacking weight but has just been weaned from her colt (needs new home also, not located here). We were told that she is 14 yrs old and trained to ride. Both are available for adoption, at this time adoption fee is negotiable.

June 25 2017 Journey of Life & Crafty Madness

Gorgeous thoroughbred mares, Journey is 15 yrs old, Crafty is 17yrs old. Their owner was in a serious accident, sold the farm and had to part with these 2 beautiful, sweet girls! Fortunately, we had the space for them, its so much fun meeting new equine and human friends!
