Meat Horses Nov 24 2012

11 yr old Perch mare, trained to ride
2 standardbreds
Today at the Woodville auction there were 8 horses, all were purchased by meat buyers.  Unfortunatly until we have another adoption we do not have the funds to save another.  This Percheron mare is very sweet & personable, and is trained to ride.  One of the fellas that works at the sale barn jumped up on her back and she was very well behaved.  She is currently in the meat yard but if someone is interested in her, or assisting with her rescue I can arrange it.  We likely only have a day or 2 before she gets shipped so time is of the essence!!!  There were also 2 standardbreds, 1 thoroughbred and Belgian broodmare with a bad hind leg.  Two were 2 yr old paint colts and 1 filly, all of them were unhandled, its terrible that their owners did not properly prepare them and arm them with some training!  Shame Shame!!!

    1. Right now it is not an adoption fee, it will cost 400 to release her from the meatyard. Thanks!

    1. Sorry, I did reply but it took it as a comment. I am still learning how to do some things with our blog. I did finally learn how to reply....
More help raising funds would be wonderful, all would be repayed upon her adoption, or could "reinvest" in saving another horse!

  6. That would be wonderful! No permanent homes have come forward, we are still trying to raise funds... Its a bad time of year, then it is less stress on us all!! Thanks! I do have her on hold now, she won't be shipped unless we don't come up with the $$.

  8. Do you have the funds? Looks like you do...I am trying to find a place for her ....hay is so short in this area at the moment. That girl just looks so special...we pulled a special one from Olex last January...same 400...seems to be the going rate. If we get the hay from Hay East...I would gladly take her for keeps. They say they are processing our application...fingers crossed. We have just enough hay for the livestock already here. When the going gets tough ...the tough get going. So glad you were there to save this girl.
